What is Registered Massage Therapy?
Massage Therapy is a regulated health profession in Ontario. Massage Therapists are governed by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO).
Massage Therapy consists primarily of hands-on manipulation of the soft tissues of the body, specifically the muscles, connective tissues, tendons, ligaments and joints for the purpose of optimizing health.
It has a therapeutic effect on the body by acting on the muscular, nervous, and circulatory systems.
Physical function can be developed, maintained, improved and physical dysfunction, pain, and stress effects can be relieved or prevented through Massage Therapy.
